Financial Preparedness for the Realities of Debt Culture

Financial Preparedness for the Realities of Debt Culture

February 13, 2018

We spend a lot of time at Ready Nation training and equipping for natural disasters, but today we are going to focus on financial preparedness.  Financial preparedness is something you can't buy, and takes years of concerted effort for most people to achieve.  Financial preparedness means readiness to overcome both short and long term problems by having enough money on hand without having to rely on banks or third parties.  As we've seen in the last few weeks, the stock markets can be highly volatile, and the U.S. Government is spending more money than they take in.  Self reliance is a core pillar of Ready Nation's ethos, and we hope to assist our members to be financially self reliant, because relying on banks or the Government is not a solution.

The U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) just announced officially that 2017 was the costliest year on record with $306 billion dollars in disaster-related damages, with 16 distinct events causing more than a billion dollars of damage each, all over the United States. These disasters tragically took over 360 lives and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses.  These were just the most severe of 2017's disasters; there were hundreds more smaller events that don't make NOAA's billion dollar threshold.  It's an undeniable and data-backed fact that these types of disasters are becoming more frequent and severe, and causing more damage and disruption.
